Less than a month after Rory McIlroy’s historic Master’s victory, another PGA major is upon us.
Yesterday, the PGA Championship announced the field of competitors for 2025’s tournament held at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina from May 12-18. Among those seeking a major victory are defending champion Xander Schauffele and 2017 winner at Quail Hollow, Justin Thomas, highlighting a field composed of “29 Major Champions, 14 PGA Champions, 3 World Golf Hall of Famers and 3 Ryder Cup Captains,” according to the major’s announcement.
As one of golf’s four major tournaments played every year, the PGA Championship will undoubtedly be one of the biggest draws on the sport’s calendar. Last year’s event saw a record-setting 200,000 patrons flock to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky to take in the four days of competition. Hotels in Louisville and the surrounding areas were around 87% occupied for the entire weekend as a result of the huge crowds attending the tournament.
PGA Championship officials expect a similar number of fans to make their way to Quail Hollow next week for this year’s event. Early estimates claim hotels in the Charlotte area will be booked at more than 90% occupancy, with room prices ranging from $220-$1200 a night, depending on location.
Golf lovers hoping to attend the PGA Championship next week can head over to the tournament’s website to purchase tickets. As of May 7, the tournament’s Daily Ticket Packages are still available at $625 per person for Thursday access and $700 per person for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday access. A daily ticket gives fans access to the course for that day’s action, entry to the Michelob ULTRA Greenside Viewing at the 15th green, on-course food and beverage, and offers a premium viewing area. The tournament’s official ticket and hotel packages are sold out.
The PGA Championship offers exclusive ticket packages for members of the armed forces, including one complimentary daily grounds access pass to the member and their guest. Those interested in taking advantage of this perk should visit the ticketing site and complete a verification form ahead of their visit. The tournament also accommodates fans ages 15 and under for free by obtaining up to two Junior passes per ticketed adult at the on-site Admission Office at no additional charge.
