Boston Legacy FC Moving 2026 Home Games to Foxborough

by | May 23, 2025

In its inaugural season as a NWSL expansion team, Boston Legacy FC will play its 2026 home games at Gillette Stadium.

The big takeaway with this news is that fans who were originally planning to attend Legacy FC games at White Stadium will now have to make the 20 mile trip out to Foxborough instead – a not insignificant distance to have to travel in comparison. Although the move is only for a season, it still inconveniences fans more than it should, had this stadium deal remained on track.

How did we get here?

Among the newest NWSL teams – approved for expansion in September 2023 – Boston Legacy FC was set to play at White Stadium in the city’s Franklin Park, but the $200 million renovation project to upgrade the crumbling, 76-year-old venue, originally slated for completion by March 2026, now won’t be finished in time for the start of the NWSL season.

The “Franklin Park Action Plan” was formed by the City of Boston, Boston Public Schools, and the franchise’s ownership group to ensure a 10-year lease agreement for the Legacy’s use of the future White Stadium Complex as well as provide other community-oriented amenities. The new complex will host a variety of sporting facilities for locals’ and schools’ use.

Among the reasons for the project’s delay is an ongoing lawsuit by a coalition of conservancy and community groups that have raised issues regarding the project’s use of public land. The project has other high-profile critics, as well, including the son of the New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, Josh, who’s also running for mayor in Boston.

How fans can attend Legacy FC games

So, if all this drama doesn’t turn fans away, they can purchase deposits for 2026 season tickets at the team’s site here for $26. Deposit holders can purchase up to six seats each. Season ticket holders receive a variety of perks like product discounts and fan experiences.

As of publication, it doesn’t look like prices for season tickets have been announced yet, so stay tuned for more information once it’s released.
