Whether you’re a member of the Bills Mafia or a visiting fan brave enough to come to Buffalo for a game at Highmark Stadium, we’ve got all of the schedule info that you need to put together the best road trips possible. And with this being the final season at Highmark before the Bills open their new stadium, there will be plenty of fans looking to catch a first or last glimpse of the Bills’ 52-year-old venue.
For this Schedule Scout, we have included the Bills, Sabres, University of Buffalo, Syracuse University, and the Buffalo Bisons (MiLB). Every now and then, we may throw in something additional if we think it really works for a road trip itinerary – like Paul McCartney playing at KeyBank Arena.

What we like

What we like
It’s September, so there’s still a lot of baseball happening in the Big Apple. On Friday and Saturday, you can catch the Mets hosting the Rangers at Citi Field. On Saturday, you can also head out to Rutgers for college football. But the biggest attraction of the weekend (other than the Jets-Bills game) may be Banana Ball being played at Yankee Stadium on Saturday and Sunday nights. For the more aggressive, you could drive to Dallas for the Cowboys-Eagles game on Sunday afternoon (3:25).

If you’re a basketball fan, heading to Storrs on Friday night for UConn basketball might be a good call. Otherwise, head to Boston for a few days of sightseeing before making your way to Foxboro on Sunday for Pats-Bills.

What we like
On Friday night, you can catch the Cavs in action against the Bulls. Stay downtown on Saturday for some sightseeing, and you can even see The Nutcracker at Playhouse Square, where they are also screening A Christmas Story twice per day, all weekend. On Sunday, it’s Browns-Bills at Huntington Bank Stadium at 1:00.

It’s the final regular-season game ever at Highmark Stadium. If the Bills secure a first-round home playoff game, then it might be a little anticlimactic, but if they’re a wild-card team or are out of the playoffs, then this is a monster event in Buffalo.

Bottom Line
Bills Mafia travels as well as any fan base, and there will be plenty of visiting fans heading to Buffalo this season as well to say goodbye to Highmark Stadium.
Our favorite home games are the Week 9 game against the Chiefs, not just because it’s a huge game, but because you can see both Syracuse for football and the Sabres for hockey. And Week 18, because if it’s your last (or only) chance to see this ancient building, you should do it. The atmosphere will be amazing.
Our favorite road games are Week 10 in Miami, with both Syracuse and the Bills visiting South Florida on the same weekend. And Week 13 in Pittsburgh, where you may be able to see college football, pro football, and the NHL in a two-day stretch.
