Schedule Scout: Washington Commanders 2025

The Washington Commanders’ 2025 schedule was released earlier this spring, and with it came a plethora of travel opportunities for fans of both the Commanders and everyone they’ll play this year. We looked at what else is happening in each city when the Commanders are in town, both home and away, so you can see everything available to you for a doubleheader (or more) trip.
Of note: there are four weekends when you could see both the Commanders and Ravens hosting games. Those are on 9/21-9/22, 10/12-10/13, 11/27-11/30, and 12/20-12/21.
For this guide, we included events in Baltimore, since it’s less than an hour away, as well as the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, which is about 120 miles away and takes between 2.5 and 3 hours to drive.

What we like
It’s a quieter weekend in DC, but the Yankees playing at Camden Yards is always a good time, and this is a rare weekend when you can see two NFL games just a quick car ride away from each other. You’re there for Commanders vs. Raiders, but Lions at Ravens will be a HUGE matchup on Monday night.

What we like
If you’re up for a drive, the Alabama-Georgia game in Athens is hard to beat. Sanford Stadium is about 75 miles from downtown Atlanta, so it’s definitely doable. It would just be a late-night drive back. Otherwise, nobody could argue with seeing two games at Truist Park, and maybe you’d get lucky and see Paul Skenes for one of them.

You think just because it’s Europe that you won’t have doubleheader opportunities? Think again! If you just want to stay local, the Real Madrid premier basketball team will host Greek squad Panathinaikos on Thursday night. But if you’re looking for professional soccer, the UEFA World Cup Qualifiers are happening that weekend as well. You could see a match in Andorra, Paris, London, or Dublin on Thursday, or Luxembourg or Gibraltar on Friday, and still make it to Madrid for the Sunday game in plenty of time. Andorra and Gibraltar would be challenging commutes, but the rest are reasonable for getting to Madrid.

What we like
The time for the Commanders-Eagles game hasn’t been set, but if it’s at night, you could hit the Red Wings – Capitals game at 12:30 that afternoon. On Sunday, you could either head to Baltimore for Ravens-Patriots, or hang out in DC for Wizards-Spurs.

What we like
It’s pretty rare that a late-season Commanders-Cowboys game could have meaning. Is this when that all changes? The NFL hopes so, since they scheduled it for Christmas night. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to make it out of the Northwest Stadium parking lot in time for the Wizards game the next night at Capital One Arena. If not, the Wizards are also at home on Sunday.

What we like
The date for the Commanders-Eagles game hasn’t been set – we’ll see if it’s important enough to flex to Saturday or Sunday night. Regardless, the only other sporting event taking place is the 76ers vs. the Denver Nuggets on Monday night.

Bottom Line
It’s a bit of an unusual schedule this year, as the Commanders and Ravens will play home games on the same weekend on four different weekends. There’s not a ton of college football options in the DC area, but Maryland and Navy will have a few doubleheader opportunities.
On the road, the Green Bay and Los Angeles trips are pretty interesting, with iconic Lambeau Stadium and the Rose Bowl as opportunities.
