European games added to NBA regular season in 2026-28

by | Aug 4, 2025

A series of European games is being added to the NBA regular season schedule over the next several years, beginning in 2026.

Although the NBA has routinely played games in Europe for decades, this latest schedule addition comes as the league continues talks with FIBA and the EuroLeague regarding the formation of another basketball league on the continent.

Doubleheader Digest

Fans who travel across the pond for the 2026 slate of NBA regular-season European matchups will have some great chances to see English Premier League and German Bundesliga matches, not to mention plenty of world-class sightseeing in both cities.

Kicking off the trip is a tilt featuring RB Leipzig and SC Freiburg on Wednesday, January 14, in Leipzig, Germany. Trains frequently run from Berlin to Leipzig and take a little over an hour from station to station. Although the time for this Bundesliga matchup hasn’t been scheduled just yet, trains between the two cities run all day long, so you shouldn’t have any issue making the trip, regardless of kickoff time.

After a short flight on either January 15 or 16, the U.K. leg of this basketball-soccer getaway is up next. On January 17, Chelsea takes on Brentford at Stamford Bridge, and the Tottenham Hotspurs host West Ham United. Both games kick off at 3:00pm local London time. Either would make for a fantastic afternoon before heading over to the O2 the next night to catch the second Grizzlies-Magic game.

Bottom line

These games are a great travel opportunity for sports fans. Those interested in making the trip to Europe can add on to their experience with world-class soccer in some really interesting stadiums. Although it’s still a bit early for ticket information, stay tuned to TSI for additional details as they’re released in the coming months.
