Masters ticket lottery now open, while Augusta National cracks down on resale tickets

by | Jun 3, 2025

The countdown is on to one of the best events in sports. The lottery for 2026 Masters tickets is now open through June 20. Here’s everything you need to know to have a chance to attend the 90th playing of the Masters.

How to register for tickets to The Masters

To enter the lottery, fans must first have an account. Those who already have an account from a previous year can simply log in using their account information and begin selecting their desired rounds after verifying their personal and contact information. If you need to set up an account, you can do so here.

Here are some important notes as you figure out how to apply:

  • You’ll be asked to opt in or out for each day of the tournament, including the three practice round dates (Mon-Wed), as well as the four tournament dates (Thurs-Sun).
  • You can opt in for whatever dates you want. If you aren’t interested in attending a practice round or can’t attend on a specific day, simply don’t opt in for it.
  • You can only win the lottery for one day. Once you’ve won for a specific date, you’re taken out of the lottery pool for any other dates.
  • When The Masters runs the lottery, they will first fill requests for tournament dates (Thurs-Sun) and will then move on to the practice rounds (Mon-Wed). So the only way you would receive practice round tickets is if you failed to win the lottery for the tournament dates. Therefore, applying for the practice rounds will not negatively impact your chances of obtaining tickets to the tournament dates.
  • You can request up to four tickets per day for the practice dates, and two tickets per day for the tournament dates.
  • The deadline for applying is June 20, 2025.

How much do Masters tickets cost if you win the lottery?

Prices for both practice and tournament rounds are as follows:

Practice rounds:

  • Monday, April 6: $125
  • Tuesday, April 7: $125
  • Wednesday, April 8 (par 3 contest): $150

Tournament rounds:

  • Thursday, April 9: $160
  • Friday, April 10: $160
  • Saturday, April 11: $160
  • Sunday, April 12: $160

Selected fans will be notified after the selection process concludes in late July, at which point fans can purchase their allotted tickets.

Can I purchase a weekly pass to The Masters?

Well, some people can. But if you’re asking and don’t already have one, the answer is no.

Augusta National does have a weekly Series Badge, which costs $450 and provides access to the tournament from Thursday to Sunday. However, obtaining one of these badges is no small feat, as they can only be passed down from the badge holder to a surviving spouse, and not to any other family members. Once the badge holder and their spouse pass away, the badge is reclaimed by Augusta.

The list of patrons who either have a badge or are in line to receive one has been opened only once, briefly in 2000, since its closure in 1978. No one knows how many of these badges exist, though some estimates say that there are between 15,000 and 20,000 in circulation.

New in 2025: Augusta cracks down on resale tickets

Importantly, Augusta National is the only official source and seller of Masters tickets, and the resale of Masters tickets has always been prohibited by the tournament. However, in past years, thousands of fans turned to the secondary resale market to purchase tickets, albeit at incredibly inflated prices (anywhere from $2000 to over $10,000), and it worked fine.

However, a news report from the 2025 tournament suggested that Augusta had started cracking down on resold tickets, stopping some fans at the gates if they were suspected of having a ticket that had been resold (the method by which this was assumed or determined is unknown to us). In some cases, those fans were denied entry to the tournament, and whether they were eligible for a refund from their point of sale is unknown. Which is all to say that, suddenly, getting tickets to the tournament has become a lot harder, even if you are willing to throw a ton of money at it.

For this reason, TSI currently advises against purchasing tickets on the resale market. We expect The Masters to issue a press release with more details about their enforcement of this policy, as they don’t want fans showing up to Augusta if they aren’t going to be admitted.

In directly related news, it is rumored that The Masters will start offering more premium hospitality options, which would be available to the general public outside of the lottery process. Typically those would be exponentially more expensive than the face value of a general ticket. But for those who have previously spent thousands of dollars on resale passes, these premium options may stack up competitively with resale prices, while also including benefits such as complimentary food, beverages, and access to private lounges on the grounds. We’ll keep you posted as these new packages are announced.

The value of a Masters ticket

Not only is a ticket to the Masters among the most sought after in all of sports, the get-in price to attain one is also shockingly affordable. Paying a maximum of $160 per person to attend one of the world’s most famous and storied tournaments seems well worth it to us. The trick is getting selected in the lottery, as those odds are estimated to be as low as 0.55%.

Prices for the 2026 tournament are slightly higher compared to this year’s event, which cost patrons $100 to attend on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday (now $125-$150), and $140 for Thursday to Sunday (now $160).

Once on the grounds of Augusta National, fans can purchase the club’s notoriously cheap concessions options, starting at just $1.50 for an egg salad sandwich, further adding value to the price of admission. And, of course, there’s the merchandise tent, which is the only place where Masters’ apparel and souvenirs can be purchased.

Doubleheader Digest

For fans who are lucky enough to be selected to purchase Masters tickets, they may have opportunities to add on to their road trip to see other sports in action.

Augusta is just a two-hour drive from Atlanta, where fans can attend games of the city’s professional franchises, including the Braves, Hawks, United, or Dream, which are all in season during the Masters tournament. Although schedules for these teams for the 2025-26 season have not been released yet, the odds are decent that one or more of them will have a home game during the same week as the Masters (April 6-12). We will keep you updated as those schedules are announced.

Bottom line

Although the odds of winning a ticket in the Masters’ lottery aren’t great, fans should absolutely still register. It’s free to apply, and there are no downsides to having an account with the Masters to receive updates and alerts about promotional opportunities throughout the year. Although second-hand tickets will probably be available on resale sites, we suggest avoiding them for the moment, as the risk of being denied entry is suddenly very real. Fans are better off trying to beat the odds through the official (and free) lottery, or waiting for more information from Augusta about premium hospitality options.
