TICKET ALERT: Olympics ticket lottery to open on January 14

by | Jan 6, 2026

Interested in going to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028? If so, now is the time to start planning – at least for tickets. The Los Angeles Olympic Committee announced that registration for their ticket lottery will open on January 14 and will run through March 18.

Once the registration process has closed, LA28, the organizing committee for the Los Angeles games, will notify randomly selected entrants if they have won an opportunity to purchase tickets. After that, each winner will be assigned a date to make their purchases.

On the pricing front, LA28 has announced that tickets will start at $28, and that at least one million tickets will be sold at that price, while one-third of all tickets will be priced under $100 (the total number of tickets is estimated to be around 14 million for the entire event). The pricing seems to be an intentional effort to distance the Olympics from the pricing fiasco that occurred with the World Cup, where the cheapest $60 tickets were limited to a handful of upper-deck seats in each venue. The Olympic Committee has also suggested that it will not use dynamic pricing, which adjusts ticket prices based on demand.

Next steps

To register for the lottery, you can click here for LA28’s ticket information page. When they release a link to the actual registration form, we will update this.

There’s no rush to register on the first day, and we would recommend not doing so, since big traffic rushes tend to crash these sites. Just make sure to set a reminder on your calendar to register sometime before March 18.

As for travel, it’s still way too early for any hotel or flight reservations for 2028. But if you have relatives in the LA area that you’d like to crash with, now might be a good time to call some early dibs on that guest room.
