Denver awarded 16th NWSL franchise, to start play in 2026

by | Feb 14, 2025

The NWSL announced this week that Denver was being awarded the 16th team franchise, and will begin play in 2026. Denver beat out bids from both Cincinnati and Cleveland, and will join Boston as one of the NWSL’s two new franchises next year.

A team name or home stadium hasn’t been announced, although the new ownership group has suggested that they will look to build a dedicated stadium for the team, in the same mold that the Kansas City Current followed when building their home, CPCK Stadium. Prior to that, the rumors are that the team could end up playing at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the current home of the MLS’ Colorado Rapids.

On the season ticket front, the team collected more than 5000 season ticket deposits within three days of the team’s announcement. If you are interested in getting on the waitlist, click here to place your $30 per seat non-refundable deposit.
