Bears, Jaguars, Panthers, Vikings to host NFL Europe games in 2024

by | Jan 11, 2024

The NFL announced today their three host teams for 2024’s international games in London, and they are the Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Minnesota Vikings.  Each of those teams will have one of their 2024 home games moved to London.  In addition, the league announced that the Carolina Panthers will host a home game in Munich, Germany at Allianz Arena, home to Bayern Munich.

With the NFL’s most recent 17-game scheduling format, each conference rotates with having either eight or nine regular season home games each season.  In 2024, the NFC will have the additional ninth home game (and just one home preseason game), while AFC teams will have eight regular season home games (and two home preseason games). So the Bears, Panthers, and Vikings will now play one home preseason game in 2024, and eight home regular season games, in addition to the game they will each host in Europe.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars, as an AFC team, will have two home preseason games in 2024, but only seven regular season home games.  The Jaguars have been established as a permanent host team in London, so each year one of their games is relocated to Wembley Stadium, thus reducing their number of regular season home games by one each season.

The opponents for these games will be announced at a later date (usually in May, prior to the release of the full schedule).  But typically the London games are held from late September to mid-October, and the Germany game is held from late October to early November.  The Jaguars always play at the iconic Wembley Stadium, while the other London games are played at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, an amazing venue opened in 2019.  Munich’s Allianz Arena is a 75,000 seat stadium opened in 2005, and is widely considered to be the most famous stadium in Germany.  TSI considers all of these venues to be fantastic and well worth the effort of attending a game at each.

There’s nothing for fans to do at this time:  without finalized dates, there’s no need to book a hotel or air travel yet, and tickets won’t be announced until a later date.  But if you’re a fan of the Bears, Jaguars, Panthers, or Vikings and think you might want to attend, then this would be a good time to start looking at your schedule and budget for the fall.  Given the travel costs associated with traveling to Europe, these can be very expensive events to attend.  But TSI will have information for you regarding hotel, transit, and ticketing strategies, so be sure to sign up for our daily newsletter to keep up to date on everything you need to know.
