In what has become more of a trend in recent years, multiple airlines are adding additional flights to their schedules to get hometown fans to the big game in New Orleans.
Southwest is adding a whopping 31 additional flights (over 5400 seats) from both Kansas City (MCI) and Philadelphia (PHL) airports to New Orleans. Delta added seven total flights, and it has been reported that other airlines have increased capacity as well.

The additional capacity is great news for fans, but the extra seats come at a steep cost. But while the original reporting cited fares starting at over $700 each way, we’re now seeing one-way fares going for around half of that.

Unfortunately for late-booking fans, hotels aren’t able to add capacity like airlines can, and for those looking for accommodations in downtown New Orleans, you won’t have much luck. Your best bet will be renting a car and looking at hotels outside of the city center.
But for those willing to give that a try, these flights will certainly help.
