The NFL announced today that the Indianapolis Colts will host a regular season game in Berlin, Germany this coming season. This will be the Colts’ third international game, having previously played in London and Frankfurt.
The game date, time, and opponent will not be released until May, likely in advance of the full NFL schedule. Having said that, the previous four games in Germany were held on November 13, November 5, November 12, and November 10. So if you’re a Colts fan who is thinking about heading to Berlin for the game, you could try to book a refundable hotel room for either the weekend of November 1 or November 8, and you’d have a reasonable chance of having guessed correctly. But make sure they are refundable reservations, since you obviously wouldn’t want to be stuck with a hotel in Berlin that you can’t use.
Tickets won’t be made available until after the formal announcement. To sign up for more information directly from the NFL about tickets, click here.
There will likely be a presale for Colts season ticket holders, and the Colts’ home schedule will be reduced by one regular season game. So the team will play eight regular season games at Lucas Oil Stadium, plus one preseason game as well.
When speculating about possible opponents, here’s the list of who the Colts are scheduled to play at home this season:
Arizona Cardinals
Atlanta Falcons
Denver Broncos
Houston Texans
Jacksonville Jaguars
Las Vegas Raiders
Miami Dolphins
San Francisco 49ers
Tennessee Titans
But when looking at it, the Jaguars, Falcons, Dolphins, 49ers, Broncos, Cardinals, and Titans have all played internationally since 2021. So if you’re just thinking about which teams are “due” for an international trip, the Raiders and Texans would most closely fit that bill.
