It was reported today that the Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA, who normally play their home games at the 12,000 seat Michelob Ultra Arena, are moving their game against the Indiana Fever to the 20,000 seat T-Mobile Arena instead to accommodate what is expected to be far greater ticket demand. The game will be played in Las Vegas on Tuesday, July 2nd.
What’s spurring the demand? The Indiana Fever have the first pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft, and college superstar Caitlin Clark is expected to be their pick. It’s a phenomenon that is starting to pop up all over the WBNA, with season tickets at various teams seeing an uptick in sales, and single game tickets being priced aggressively by teams as well.
This could very well be a turning point in the fortunes of the WNBA. While there have been other phenomenal players who have gone to the WNBA, Clark’s game has captivated the basketball-watching public. The NCAA Women’s championship game between Iowa and South Carolina had a television audience greater than that of the men’s championship game, which is the first time that has ever happened.
Tickets for the Aves-Fever game in Las Vegas go onsale at 10am PT on Wednesday, April 10th. Tickets will be sold through the Aces’ primary ticketing provider, AXS.
The good news is that as of publication time, the cheapest tickets for this game on Stubhub are only $58 plus fees, while the cheapest lower level seats are $125 plus fees.
