PGA relocates Genesis Invitational to San Diego due to wildfires

by | Jan 25, 2025

The Genesis Invitational golf tournament, which is held every February in Los Angeles, will be relocated out of the city due to the ongoing wildfires in Southern California.

The new location will be Torrey Pines Golf Club in La Jolla, just north of San Diego, and 125 miles south of Riviera Country Club, the tournament’s home location. The dates will remain the same: the tournament will take place from February 10-16.

The good news is that, for those who were scheduled to travel to the event, the relocation to San Diego is manageable. Most people in LA would have been renting a car anyway, so that same car can get you to La Jolla, which is a fairly easy and quick drive.

Of course hotels are a different story. For those looking to stay overnight, scrambling to find a hotel could be a challenge. But a quick look at Expedia shows that prices for properties in Encinitas, Carlsbad, Poway, and others are still less than $300/night for name brand hotels.

On the ticketing front, fans who purchased tickets for the original tournament in LA will receive automatic refunds from Ticketmaster or Spinzo.com, the two authorized ticketing partners of the event. If you purchased tickets through a resale site such as StubHub or SeatGeek, be sure to contact them to make sure they process a refund as well.

If you’re interested in attending the relocated event at Torrey Pines, a limited number of tickets are now available on Ticketmaster. Click here to check them out.
