Are you planning on heading to Indianapolis to see your team play this season? Or are you a Colts fan thinking about following the Colts out on the road? Either way, we have everything you need to know about what’s happening in those cities when the Colts are there. Want to see more than one event in a weekend? Or even in a day? We’ve got your answers!
For this Schedule Scout, we’ve included Indiana University (55 miles), Ball State (65 miles), Purdue (70 miles), University of Illinois (135 miles), and Notre Dame (155 miles). For some, that may be too far or too inconvenient to travel for a road trip, but for others, a Notre Dame / Colts doubleheader might be exactly what they’re looking for. Either way, you’ll have all of the schedule info you need to make the best decision for your travel plans.

Get in on Friday so you can catch Caitlin Clark and the Fever playing their biggest rival, the Chicago Sky. That’s a 6:30 tip-off, so plan accordingly. On Saturday, you can choose between college football games at Indiana or Purdue: Indiana is the more convenient early time slot, but Purdue is close enough (70 miles) that the late-night return drive won’t be so bad. On Sunday, it’s Colts-Dolphins at 1pm.

What we like

What we like
Take advantage of the 12:45 early kickoff in Knoxville to go see the Vols vs. UAB. This is the only Vols game of the year with such an early kickoff, so it’s ideal for this doubleheader. What we like

What we like
On Saturday, you have your pick of Notre Dame, Purdue, or even Ohio State (if you’re up for the longer drive). With Notre Dame kicking off at 3:30, you would have plenty of time to drive back to Indianapolis after the game, so you’d be plenty rested for the Colts-Raiders game on Sunday. What we like
There isn’t much for sports happening this weekend in Seattle, but if you’re a pro-level road tripper, you could bolt out of the Seahawks game as soon as it ends and still be at Climate Pledge Arena at 5:00 for Kraken-Sabres. It’s only three miles away, and you could either take a local bus, a combination of the light rail and monorail (easier than it sounds), or just hop in an Uber. What we like
There isn’t much for sports happening this weekend in Seattle, but if you’re a pro-level road tripper, you could bolt out of the Seahawks game as soon as it ends and still be at Climate Pledge Arena at 5:00 for Kraken-Sabres. It’s only three miles away, and you could either take a local bus, a combination of the light rail and monorail (easier than it sounds), or just hop in an Uber. Both the bus and monorail would drop you off right at the arena.

What we like
You got a little lucky this weekend in Indy. There just happens to be a neutral-site basketball game between the Purdue and Auburn men’s basketball teams at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. So check that venue off your hit list, and then you’ll have all day on Sunday to watch NFL games at a downtown sports bar. Why? Because you’ve got all day on Monday for sightseeing in Indianapolis before Monday Night Football at 8:15.

Bottom Line
If you’re heading to Indy for football, we like Week 5 against the Raiders and Week 6 against the Cardinals. Both weekends have Notre Dame kicking off in South Bend at 3:30, so it’s feasible to get there and back on the same day.
If you’re following the Colts on the road, be sure to check out the Week 3 schedule, which allows you to visit Knoxville for a football game at Neyland Stadium and still arrive in Nashville in plenty of time for the Titans-Colts game. And Week 7 in LA features the Lakers and Kings at Crypto, as well as UCLA at the Rose Bowl. That’s a pro-grade schedule.
