Heads up, NFL fans – this is an unusual one.
As everyone knows, the NFL can flex games into and out of the Sunday night slot, and they have done so plenty of times. But, honestly, we had no idea that they could flex Thursday night games with Sunday games (and we don’t think we’ve ever seen it before). But that’s what they’ve done: the Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers game, originally scheduled for Sunday 12/22 at SoFi Stadium, has now been flexed to Thursday 12/19 at 5:15pm PT.
On the other end of the flex, the Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals game at Paycor Stadium, originally scheduled for Thursday 12/19, will now be played on Sunday 12/22 at 1pm ET.
This will, of course, have serious ramifications for any traveling fans. If you were planning on heading to LA for that Sunday Chargers-Broncos game, those plans are now likely up in smoke. You should look into either changing or canceling any reservations that you may have and adjusting accordingly.
For fans of the Browns or Bengals, this probably makes life a little easier. Yes, if you already had plans to go for Thursday night, those are screwed. But … for many fans, a Thursday night game is just not feasible. So there may be a lot more in-stadium interest for this game now that Browns fans will be able to drive down to Cincinnati for the weekend.
