Truist Park Overview

Truist Park

You’ve probably heard that we have an amazing new ballpark here in Atlanta. In fact, it’s the second newest stadium in Major League Baseball, and make no mistake – we’re quite proud of it. And if the last time you were here was for a ballgame at The Ted, then trust us – it’s time to come to Truist Park.

But it’s not just a shiny new ballpark with amazing food, interesting seating options, a great Hall of Fame, an amazing kids zone, and a really, really good baseball team. It’s also The Battery, the complex outside of the ballpark that is full of bars, restaurants, retail shops, and more. You can easily come here for a three-hour baseball game and have an all-day adventure break out.

So come on down – our Southern hospitality may be even better than our baseball team, and even if you’re wearing the other team’s jersey, you’ll be surrounded by a lot of welcoming fans who are happy to share this amazing ballpark experience with you.

Our five-part guide to Trust Park will help you plan the perfect trip to see baseball in Atlanta. We’ll cover:

  1. Travel: Getting to Atlanta
  2. Lodging: Where you should stay
  3. Local Transit: How you should get around
  4. Ticketing/Seating/Premium: Where to sit, how to buy, and whether to opt for premium seating
  5. Gameday: What to do before/during/after the game

There are a LOT of choices, from classics to regional favorites. Even the basics are really good here.

How many games should you see?

Don’t shortchange yourself on time visiting Truist Park. Make plans to attend a minimum of two, or ideally three games during your trip. With the variety of seating options available, you can create a unique experience for each game. If your travel plans are flexible, try splurging on premium seats for a weeknight game when premium seating can be most affordable. Or kickoff a weekend trip with a Friday night game and the spectacular post-game fireworks show. Throw in a pregame ballpark tour one day, and a pregame visit to The Battery on another day, and it’s easy to see why planning on multiple games at Truist Park is a great idea.

When should you go to Truist Park?

Weather in Atlanta can be unpredictable at times, but one thing remains constant: the summers are steamy. Trust Park is an open-air stadium, and while it offers shaded options, summer games can be quite hot and humid. If your trip brings you here during July and August, be sure to read TSI’s guide to the most comfortable seating options during those months. April, May, and September games offer the mildest temperatures and best odds of dry weather.

In terms of ticket availability, the Braves sell out a significant number of games during the regular season, especially on the weekends. In a stadium that holds 41,000 people, the Braves averaged 39,000 fans per game in 2023, so tickets are just not as easily available in all price categories as they are at many other MLB ballparks. If you’re coming to see teams with devoted road fans like the Dodgers, Cubs, Yankees, etc., you are going to want to purchase your tickets well in advance (and stay tuned to TSI for information about when the Braves go on sale with single game tickets before each season). But even for other visiting clubs, this is not a great place to wait until the last minute to buy tickets. Sure, you may get a great last-minute deal, but you may also end up not having the seating choice you were hoping for.

Where Truist Park is located

Truist Park and Battery Atlanta have an Atlanta address but the complex sits just outside the northwest perimeter of Atlanta proper where I-75 and I-285 meet. About 13 miles north of the heart of downtown Atlanta, and 21 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Truist Park is a suburban ballpark, and is only accessible by car (either your own rental car or a rideshare), especially since our mass transit (MARTA) doesn’t stop anywhere close to the stadium. Once you’re in the vicinity of the ballpark, there are some alternative options to get you from your hotel to the stadium, so you’ll have to decide whether to rent a car or rely on a combination of rideshares, public transit, hotel shuttles, and good ol’ fashioned walking. We’ll cover all of this in our Travel and Local Transit chapters.

It’s no secret that the Atlanta area is known for its traffic and the location of Truist Park will surely introduce you to that. Everyone drives in Atlanta, so whether you’re behind the wheel or someone else is, just be prepared for the full Atlanta traffic experience while you’re in town.

About your Trust Park Insider

Hey y’all, I’m Sarah! I was born and raised in the Peach State, and was born into being a Braves fan. From the days I got tickets to The Ted as a reward for good grades and celebrating the 1995 World Series team to now being a Braves A-List member and finally seeing another World Series Championship, I’ll always be #FortheA.

I’m a sports marketer by trade, but you can find me spending time off doing the Tomahawk Chop from my seats in the Home Run Porch section. Weeknight games are my favorite, and usually consist of pre-game pizza from Antico’s and post-game ice cream at Jeni’s in The Battery. Can’t forget my favorite stadium popcorn in between.

Atlanta is a great city with a lot of heart. I hope you enjoy your visit to Truist Park and Braves Country.
