Denver Summit FC’s move to Centennial Stadium delayed again

Construction delays have once again pushed back the opening of Denver Summit FC’s Centennial Stadium. Originally scheduled for completion prior to the start of Summit FC’s inaugural season, the stadium was not ready for the team’s first half of the season. The team’s July 3 and 12 matches were finally scheduled to take place at Centennial, 15 miles south of downtown Denver, but recent weather delays have prevented the pouring of concrete and the hosting of those home matches. Those two games will instead be held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Now, the home opener date for Centennial Stadium is set for July 18 against the Portland Thorns.

If you have tickets for the July 3 and 12 games, don’t worry – they will work for admission at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, where many of the Summit’s home matches this season have been held. The team will convert those existing tickets to new (but comparable) seat locations at Dick’s, and those tickets will be added to your Ticketmaster account. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster account, you’ll want to reach out to the team in advance to make sure your tickets are available to you (which will likely require you to set up a Ticketmaster account where the replacement tickets can be sent).

Many Summit fans are already familiar with Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, since the team has been playing its home games there for most of the season. It’s also the home of the MLS’ Colorado Rapids.

The 12,000-seat Centennial Stadium will host the Summit through at least the end of the 2028 season. The team is building a larger, permanent stadium —Santa Fe Yards—in Denver’s Baker neighborhood, closer to the city center.
