Lollapalooza to overlap with multiple Chicago sports events in 2026

by | Mar 29, 2026

Lollapalooza finalized its 2026 calendar, and fans of both music and sports will be happy to know that the massive event will take place on the same weekend that Chicago has a full sports schedule.

Lolla will take place in Grant Park from Thursday, July 30, through Sunday, August 2. At the same time, four of the city’s professional sports teams will play home games.

First, the Chicago White Sox will host the New York Yankees for a home series from July 27-30, overlapping with the first night of Lollapalooza.

In a really convenient scheduling coincidence for Yankees fans, the Bronx Bombers will then travel a few miles north for a three-game series at Wrigley Field on Friday through Sunday. And for fans of great baseball, it gets even better, as the Cubs will host the Dodgers on Monday night.

But it won’t just be baseball happening in the Windy City. WNBA fans will have two chances to see the Chicago Sky play, with a game against the Connecticut Sun on Thursday at 7pm, and the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday at 12pm.

And soccer fans will be in for a treat as well, as the Chicago Fire will host Charlotte FC at Soldier Field on Saturday night, followed by a Premier League exhibition match on Sunday between Liverpool and Leeds.

And for those who didn’t get their music fill over the weekend, Ariana Grande will play at the United Center on Monday, August 3.

It’s an almost overwhelming list of options for fans who like to bounce between events and see multiple stadiums. But the 1:10pm Thursday Sox game, the 1:20pm Cubs games on Friday and Sunday, and the Sky-Aces game at noon on Saturday are all schedule-friendly for those who would like to see games without missing the evening’s headliner at Lolla.

Next Steps

If you’re planning on going to Chicago for Lolla or any of these events, you’ll want to book both flights and hotels immediately. Lolla is a massive event, and downtown hotels will easily sell out (or whatever is left will be exorbitantly expensive). At this point, you may be forced to find accommodations further afield, perhaps even near O’Hare.

And for those who want to see the Yankees play at either stadium, you should keep an eye on tickets for those games as well, since the Yankees are always a big draw.
